The Final Steps of Homebuilding
Closing a home with First Choice Custom Homes is as important as any other step in the homebuilding experience. We pay particular attention to expectations that the homeowner has in the final details of their home. We are sure to take the time to make the final sign off a lasting one, and one that hopefully will exceed the potential of the home itself. During the closing process we implement a four-tier punch list system and review of the homeowners’ manual.

The four-tiered punch list system is organized way to effectively serve both the builder and the homeowner. In this process, the homebuilder is able to develop a master “to do” list, and the homeowner has several opportunities to walk through the home and develop a comprehensive, and somewhat ongoing, punch list. The first two scheduled walk-throughs occur before closing. Once the house is closed, there is another walk through at 60 days and then again at 11 months. All home inspections are official and are documented in a typed format and signed off on by the homeowner and the homebuilder.
The homeowner’s manual that First Choice Custom Homes provides is a compete manual of how to best take care of your home, resources that may be helpful and company procedures like legally transitioning from an initial closing to the ‘final number” closing date. Once your are in the home, the manual is helpful in explaining the somewhat daunting “warranty” procedures for appliances, storm damage, emergency and non-emergency situations that may occur in your new home. It covers maintenance of asphalt, fixtures and maintenance suggestions for garages- and a whole lot more! The First Choice Custom Homes Homeowner’s manual is a complete ‘go to’ book of helpful information, procedures for building a home successfully and a myriad of home care tips!
Closing a home is the beginning of a new chapter for the homeowner and quite frankly, the homebuilder – the relationship shifts but doesn’t disappear. Building a home is a lot of hard work and a tremendous pleasure- the closing phase of a home is really just the beginning.
